CHAK-PET village
On the land developed for the PISSA Terminal, GRUPO DPH promoted and sponsored an archaeological rescue campaign for the site called Chak Pet (red turtle in Tenek or Huasteco language). The Chak Pet village was located on a hill with a height of 28 meters above sea level.
Hundreds of rare pottery fragments, human burials, figurines, jadeite objects, shell, stone and bone were recovered.
Chak Pet can be considered the only pre-Hispanic village of the Huasteca excavated intensively and extensively; which has allowed us to learn to a large extent about the living conditions that this population faced, as well as part of its history and socioeconomic development.
